A step back in time

After another chilled morning, we head off into Kuching after Ann's grandmother's duties.

Drove past the Borneo Convention Centre...

And another impressive roundabout

Fort Margherita

Note the emblem above the door

The Brooke family crest and motto, "While I breathe, I hope"

Inside had very well laid out displays and information on the Brooke family and their involvement in the modern history of Sarawak and the way that they looked after the interests of the indigenous people of Sarawak.

James Brooke's intentions were noble and were honoured through the family as each 'White Rajah' took up their position.

Interesting title!

There were 3 floors to the gallery

Bust of Charles Brooke

The Sarawak Anthem

The war anthem

The Brooke Family Tree

Australia had a big part in Sarawak becoming what it is today

Anthony Brooke wrote this letter to the people of Sarawak to explain his actions

We had walked past this memorial the first time we visited Kuching but didn't get a photo as we didn't realise the significance of it

Rewarded with lovely views of the city

We then head off back home via the Gala Food Court for dinner - Heidi got Kue Tiau and baby kailan

Then across the road to Wedrink for the ultimate dessert - Matcha ice-cream (Heidi got the Sundae with red bean!)

These are lit up at night and remind us of the Christmas decorations back home
